Description

Made for the Artisttree August draw-along, based on this pic: [link]

First of all - yes, it's messy, yes, screwed up on several things, no, didn't have the patience to fix it. It's my first colored drawing, but I really didn't like it anyway. It was good for practicing so it's all good.

These guys are a constant sight on Iraq since the ending of the invasion. A enormous ammount of civilian contractors working for the US government are operating over there right now, with great salaries and a good ammount of risk. They aren't under practically any jurisdiction, be it iraqi or american, and since 2003, none of them were convicted for any war crimes - a curious fact since there were over 150.000 of them during 2006-2007, many carrying guns, and operating in hostile enviroments.

Needless to say that they are not from the regular US army, who despite all it's drawbacks have a strong jurisdiction and many times punish war crimes commited by their soldiers. Many of them are ex-military though, hailing not only from the US but from UK, Israel, Fiji, Nepal, South Africa, Chile, and several others.

Anyway, there's good money in war, and Private Military Companies are making a buttload of cash. Nevermind the common iraqi civilian caught in the firefight.

Even Machiavelli said not to trust anyone looking remotely like a mercenary.
Haven't we learned ?
